All Roads Lead To Rome
(D. Amey)

Some things they never change
And you are like those things
Always so many reasons, for getting nowhere
It's not a sin, it's not your fault,
Your not the first one to get caught up in machinery spinning out there
Yea, we pay a price for living like we do
Me - I'm willing to pay that price
How 'bout you
Living in the corner of a world that's going insane
Lets run on up to the front for a better view
And the mad parade is marching down the Great Appian Way
Nero grabs his bow and starts to play
as the Empire crumbles into stone
All roads lead to Rome

Some friends of mine they talk for miles
about the future with knowing smiles
Smiling down at the monkey trials like Darwin
And it occurs to me what they don't know
is their just part of the whole game show
There will be no picnic at the end of the world
And the mad parade is a fairy tale and all the children play
Running into the woods to loose their way
Yea the crumbs are gone, there's no way home
All roads lead to Rome

America, your cities are falling down
I read that on a train heading out of town
painted on a subway door that was broken
And I missed that train, it was just my luck
I was running late and the door was stuck.
Left me standing there, where that subway poet had spoken.
And it occurred to me, he might be right
I didn't get to sleep last night
Maybe the words of the prophets are written on the subway walls
and tenement halls
And still Nero's song runs around my brain
Some things they never change
The same old story of the rise and fall
And the mad parade strikes up the band on the internet cafe
and the world wide web just spins away
As we log into the great unknown
All roads lead to Rome
